From Bronze to Pewter

After spending all that time on my wax tree, it seems that casting in bronze at this point is simply not going to be possible. The drying process of the ceramic material takes much longer than I realised and between finishing my essay and visiting the London and Cardiff museums, I’ve not had the time. I was told that there was only 1 bronze pour left for the year and there would be no way my tree would be ready.

It’s pretty frustrating because I’ve been wanting to do this since the beginning of the academic year and I’ve asked the technician countless times for advice on how to make the tree, only to be brushed off as a less important first year. My only option now is to create pewter keys with my silicone moulds. It’s not quite the traditional material that keys were made of but at least it’s metal and not plastic.
