Claude Heath – Blindfold Drawings

Whilst searching for a new way to interact with both the clay and drawing process I came across Claude Heath’s Blindfold Drawings. They feature layer upon layer of continuous lines forming, and at the same time distorting the heads portrayed.

“Head 157”Β 1995

This gave me the idea of relying on my sense of touch within my drawings, removing the mirror and leaving me with only my hands to distinguish line and form. Β The outcomes I have produced show an almost map-like view of my face, featuring skeletal structure and flesh lines.
