Using some offcuts I tested how leds worked through transparent, tranclucent and opaque white 3mm acrylic. On the left is looking at the light itself and on the right is the light being given off.
As I suspected, translucent is the best middle ground to use for a potential light design. Opaque doesn’t let enough light through and clear doesn’t soften the light at all.
