Grayson Perry

I find Grayson Perry’s work very refreshing. He predominantly creates ceramic pots based on existing silhouettes, but is known to dabble in textiles as well. His work draws people in with bold bright colours but upon further inspection the imagery detailed on the pot are usually quite grotesque or less than idyllic. He isn’t afraid of being too bold and is well known even with those outside the art world. His distinct combination of illustration, ceramics and political comments has propelled him into fame. His illustrations themselves are all beautifully drawn with an astounding amount of detail, most easily seen in his tapestries.

I particularly want to explore Perry’s technique of layering up different coloured slips and scraping away the surface to show the hidden colours underneath.
